About
The Virtual Media Classroom is a tool for professors who wish to show movies to their students both inside and outside of class. Each professor requesting their own movie service is given their own page to access and watch the movies for up to three weeks at a time.
Rules and Guidelines
The Virtual Media Classroom follows a list of strict rules and guidelines:
- Requests must be submitted at least three days prior to when you want the movie posted.
- If you would like to have a movie posted on your Blackboard for longer than three weeks, you must submit another request.
- Professors can have a maximum of three movies per course at one time.
- The Language Center can only post movies that it owns.
- If the Language Center does not own it, please provide a link to the movie on Amazon USA. We must purchase our own copy before we can stream it. We CANNOT process any DVD that the Language Center does not own (including a Gelman Library DVD).
Off-Campus Access
Access to the Language Center Streaming Server is restricted to GW users. If you are attempting to stream videos from an off-campus location, you must first authenticate with GW's network using the web-based GW VPN, accessible using the IE or Safari. Read the GW VPN instructions.
For assistance with connecting to GW's VPN, contact the IT Help Desk.
